As SHCOE Continues to Grow, 2015–2016 Represents Largest Graduating Class in District’s History

Fort Lauderdale, FL, April 7, 2016Smart Horizons Career Online Education (SHCOE), the world’s first AdvancED/SACS/NCA/NWAC accredited online school district, earlier today released the list of postsecondary schools that its most recent graduating classes have attended or plan to attend.

The list includes well-respected and established schools as Northeastern University, Arizona State University, and Brigham Young University—as well as many career and trade schools, community colleges, and state universities. The 2015–2016 graduating class represents the largest in SHCOE history as the district continues to grow and expand in public libraries, correctional systems, workforce boards, and major corporations across the country.

When they first enroll, SHCOE students are provided with an individualized career and matriculation plan in an effort to help them continue their education beyond the high school level. Currently, upon graduation, approximately 70 percent of SHCOE graduates plan to matriculate into a postsecondary program.

“We are very proud of the all the SHCOE students who have recently earned their accredited high school diplomas and entry-level workforce certificates,” stated SHCOE Co-Founder and Superintendent Dr. Howard Liebman. “These students are a testament to our mission as a school district, which is to re-engage out-of-school youth and adults back into the educational system. The high quality of the postsecondary schools included on this list speaks to the quality of the education our students receive and is validation that we are executing on our mission.”

In addition to providing students the opportunity to earn their high school diploma, SHCOE’s program extends beyond a traditional high school education by enabling them to earn an entry-level workforce certificate in one of eight specialized occupational skill areas such as Food and Hospitality, Retail Customer Service, Homeland Security, Office Management, and Childcare and Education.
