Online Home Care Professional certificate with accredited high school diploma paves the way to career and educational advancement in top-growing field

October 18, 2018—Fort Lauderdale, FL—Smart Horizons Career Online Education (SHCOE) today announced the launch of a new Home Care Professional Certificate. Students earn the credential online along with their accredited high school diploma.

The certificate is designed to prepare graduates for post-secondary education or employment in the health care industry. Home health aides and personal care aides are the third and fourth fastest growing occupations in the country, respectively, with a projected overall growth rate of 41% from 2016 to 2026. Home care professionals typically require a high school diploma, and by completing the high school diploma plus Home Care Professional Certificate, graduates will be equipped with the credentials as well as the entry-level skills and knowledge needed to launch their careers.

“Many of our graduates state that they are pursuing careers in health care. We need to prepare them for that with industry-specific training,” explained Dr. Howard Liebman, SHCOE’s District Superintendent. “Our partners in the workforce development, public library, and non-profit sectors also often state that they want to help graduates enter this rapidly growing field.”

“We are thrilled to add this new program to our catalog,” said Wendy Kauffman, Chief Operating Officer for SHCOE. “We are continually updating our offerings to align with current and anticipated industry demand. Our focus is on how to best prepare students for success today, tomorrow, and in the long term. We anticipate great results for our graduates as well as our partners in the health care sector.”

The nation’s first accredited online school district, SHCOE was founded in order to re-engage adults and older youths back into the education system, as a pathway to further workforce training credentials and expanded career opportunities. For more information, visit shcoe.org.
